"An impossibility is just a possibility that you don’t understand."

You are about to read the true story of Father Christmas.

It is a story that proves that nothing is impossible.
If you are one of those people who believe that some things are impossible, you should put this book down right away. It is most certainly not for you.
Because this book is FULL of impossible things.
Are you still reading?
Good.
Then let us begin . . .
A Boy Called Christmas is a tale of adventure, snow, kidnapping, elves, more snow, and an eleven-year-old boy called Nikolas, who isn't afraid to believe in magic.

To see something, you have to believe in it. Really believe it. That’s the first rule. You can’t see something you don’t believe in. Now try your hardest and see if you can see what you have been looking for.

‘Because being good is very boring.

‘Noʼ, he told the grubby-faced pixie. ‘You are wrong. The whole world – or the world I come from, the world of the humans, is full of bad things. There is misery and greed and sadness and hunger and unkindness all over the place. There are many, many children who never get any presents, and who are lucky to get anything more than just a few spoonful’s of mushroom soup for dinner. They have no toys to play with and they will go to bed hungry. Children who have to live with horrible people like my Aunt Carlotta. In a world like that it’s very easy to be bad. So when someone is good, or kind, it’s like magic in itself. It gives people hope. And hope is the most wonderful thing there is.ʼ

The sadness Nikolas felt was incredible. To lose someone you love is the very worst thing in the world. It creates an invisible hole that you feel you are falling down and will never end. People you love make the world real and solid and when they suddenly go away forever, nothing feels solid any more.

‘Sometimes’, she said, as her eyes shone wide and bright, ‘people look up to people not for who they have been, but for what they could become. For what they know they could be. They see in you something special.’

An impossibility is just a possibility that you don’t understand.

  1. Spontant tänker jag på talesättet: The impossible we do at once, miracles take a little longer.
